In February, Ann went up to the mountains to visit schools in Whistler and Pemberton. She gave 2 presentations of Colours of Coral Reefs at Spring Creek  Community School to  K-2 students. Then, she visited La Passerelle, for 2 presentations in French: Un monde de couleurs for primary grades and Raies et Requins for junior grades. Then, she went over to Pemberton for a visit at another French school, école de la Vallée de Pemberton. It was fun presenting in French for the first time and in all 3 schools, the students really got involved and the discussions were very animated.
Merci tout le monde pour l’accueil chaleureux!

Here are comments from teachers:

It is easy to tell that Ann has years of experience as a teacher. Her multimedia presentation was engaging and at the level of the students, and she had lots of fun tricks to keep them focused. I would recommend her as a presenter.

School Visits on Salt Spring Island, BC

In January, the author visited Fernwood Elementary and Fulford Community schools on Salt Spring to present a "Dive into Colours" slide show. The children and the presenter had a lot of fun with everyone getting really involved in the show!

Here are the comments of  Richard Magnusson, the teacher-librarian who coordinated the events:

Ann presented her book as a slide show presentation to two schools that I am a librarian at within our school district. The children really enjoyed the slide show of the sea animals. Lots of ooohs and aaahs were generated along with many questions about what the children had seen.  Highly recommended for primary grades.

Next visits will be in Whistler, BC in February!

An AMAZING Book Launch!

The official launch of Dive into Colours happened on November 21 at the Salt Spring Library on beautiful Salt Spring Island, BC.
And, what an event it was! We had so many interested participants that we had to add a presentation!

Kindergarden to Grade 2 students from two local schools attended. They were a superb audience and got really involved with the slide show presentation of  creatures of coral reefs  from around the world. They especially enjoyed the image of the big green moray eel with a grin on its face!

After the show, everyone participated in a craft activity to create their own porthole view of a reef animal.

Everyone left with a concrete souvenir of the presentation and a smile on their face!
